*Please Note: Due to our joint efforts working together with the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and the Standardbred Retirement Foundation any broodmares in foal or to be bred at Chasing the Sun for the intent of racing will not be accepted.
Our Mare Barn includes 12'X18' foaling stalls equipped with foal cams. We are also using a foal alert system. All mares are closely monitored 24 hours a day by qualified staff to assist as needed. Once your foal has arrived if you wish to rebreed your mare our breeding facilities are available. Basic newborn foal needs will be provided by the staff, such as dipping the navel, administrating an enema, and making sure the foal stands and nurses. We will also make sure that the whole placenta passes from your mare and that she has adequate milk. After the mare and foal are taken care of they will be closely monitored by staff and our foal cams. We have on call local veterinarians, and we are located approximately 45 to 60 minutes from Park Equine Hospital, Rood and Riddle, and Hagyard Davis Equine Hospital.
Twelve hours post parturition your mare and foal will be assessed by our veterinarian and given a complete exam.
