Chasing The Sun Equestrian Center is a full care boarding facility located in Fleming County Kentucky, nestled on 185 acres of beautiful rolling hills in the heart of the Bluegrass with panoramic views.
Joseph Harvey founded this farm in 2006, focusing it specifically as an equine breeding farm.
Joseph and Gwendolyn Harvey live on the property and have built it into the beautiful equestrian facility that it is today. Both are lifelong horse people, bringing a lifetime of equestrian knowledge with a passion to provide exceptional hands on horse care with an emphasis on breeding program support and working with young horses.
CTS is located approximately 1 hour northeast of Lexington Kentucky and 1 1/2 hours southeast of Cincinnati Ohio, making for easy travel from either airport location.
There are many best features at Chasing the Sun such as our immaculate barn, well maintained paddocks and pastures, large rolling fields, and manicured grounds.
We provide added security with coded gate entry and recorded 24/7 video surveillance of the grounds and barn areas. All cameras are monitored from the upstairs barn office and are 24/7 accessible through smartphone technology for owners and staff.
We are a full-service farm and welcome new prospective boarding clients all year round for broodmare care, foaling/imprinting, weanling and yearling handling, layups, ground training and under saddle, riding lessons and retirement.
For the thoroughbred breeding season our facility provides for mares under lights starting in December and transport to breeding sheds. All veterinary evaluations, exams and cultures are done here onsite by Tri County Veterinary Service.
We do provide broodmare care and breeding support for all breeds!
For our AI client's needs we offer different choices. Semen storage is provided offsite nearby at Tri County Veterinary Service with veterinary evaluations, exams and insemination provided and carried out onsite at our stables.
We also work together with Hagyard Equine Medical Institute where semen storage is provided. We do all veterinary evaluations here onsite until your mare is ready for transport to Hagyard for even closer monitoring and insemination. This is a choice to consider when using frozen semen.
We do offer foaling services only as well and we prefer all mares arrive to us as early as possible but no later than early in the third trimester.
All broodmare stalls are each under individual cameras for additional monitoring and safety.
Discounted breed shed transport and transport to local equine hospitals is available for our boarding clients through our sister company CTS Equine Transport.
Chasing The Sun takes an individualized approach to each horses needs for your maiden mare, older mares in foal, weanlings and yearlings needing handling/training and time to grow prior to being moved on to the sales or training with other facilities, or your retired horse with special needs. These rolling hills and english paddocks provide plenty of freedom for horses to be well socialized, well balanced and build strong bones and muscles naturally.
Our larger pastures and fields are seeded and sprayed, providing the bulk of the hay supply needed each year. We pay close attention to our broodmare clients in their last trimesters and manage the amount of fescue they are exposed to in our fields.
Custom boarding packages are offered for your broodmare, foaling, multiple horses, young horse needs, horses in for layups and under saddle tune-up's to include full-care indoor boarding with daily turn-out, or pasture boarding. Forever home private retirement is also available through our pasture care or full care rates.
See our Boarding page for further details about our equine management and information!
Available veterinary services include onsite care locally with TriCounty Veterinary Service, Dr. Gregory Hazelrigg and Dr. Travis McVey. Other excellent services further expand approximately an hour away to Park Equine Hospital, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute and Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital.
Available for client use: 80' x 200' well maintained outdoor grass footing riding arena, 60' and 40' round pens, hot/cold indoor wash racks, spacious air-conditioned tack-room, staff and customer lounge with half bath and separate feed room.
A certified journeyman farrier and team are on site every 3 weeks.
We also provide two on site full 50 AMP RV hookups available for guests to stay on property during training and tune up's.
We have worked hard further beautifying our facility and invite you to contact us to schedule a tour at Chasing The Sun and see how we can support the needs of your horse(s) and equine program success!
